Our commitment to high-quality, adaptable therapeutic systems
Prioritising patient comfort and carer peace of mind
At Studio Care, we’re a 100% family-run business dedicated to designing, researching, and delivering innovative solutions for individuals with therapeutic care needs. Through years of working closely with occupational therapists, physiotherapists, support workers, and allied health professionals, we identified a consistent challenge: patients’ needs often change rapidly—yet most traditional mattress systems are not built to adapt.
We set out to solve that.
Our systems are designed with both patients and clinicians in mind. By supporting planned therapy regimes and adaptable configurations, we reduce the guesswork in prescribing support surfaces—enabling more consistent, evidence-aligned care through adaptive, flexible system designs—allowing more consistent, predictable care delivery.
At Studio Care, we prioritise clinically sound, adaptable solutions that evolve with the person. We believe every patient deserves access to comfort, dignity, and support. That’s why our goal is simple: to deliver high-quality therapeutic support systems that put the individual’s care and comfort as well as the prescriber’s peace of mind at the centre of everything we do.
What is a pressure injury?
Understanding the risks and solutions.
Pressure injuries—also known as pressure ulcers, bedsores, or decubitus ulcers—are areas of localised tissue damage, typically occurring over bony prominences. They are often caused by prolonged mechanical loading or a combination of pressure and shear forces that compromise capillary blood flow, leading to tissue ischemia and eventual breakdown.
These injuries can vary in severity—from non-blanchable erythema (Stage 1) to full-thickness wounds involving muscle, tendon, or bone (Stage 4). Individuals with impaired mobility, sensory deficits, nutritional compromise, or those requiring extended periods of bedrest or seated positioning are at significantly increased risk.
At Studio Care, our approach to pressure injury prevention focuses on clinically informed surface design. Our mattress systems are engineered to redistribute interface pressure, promote microclimate regulation through breathable, low-shear materials, and accommodate postural and anthropometric variability through customisable configurations. To further support risk mitigation, Studio Care integrates wireless monitoring and real-time surface pressure data capture, allowing clinicians to assess therapeutic performance with precision and respond proactively to changing clinical needs.
Together, these features help to support perfusion, reduce mechanical stress on vulnerable tissue, and create a stable, supportive environment—helping clinicians and carers reduce the risk of pressure injury development in high-risk populations.
What is Microclimate and why does it matter?
Creating a healthier skin environment for at-risk individuals.
Microclimate refers to the environmental conditions immediately surrounding the skin—specifically temperature, humidity, and airflow. For individuals at risk of pressure injuries, maintaining a balanced microclimate is essential. Excess heat and moisture can soften the skin and increase its vulnerability to friction, shear, and tissue breakdown.
At Studio Care, our mattress systems are designed with microclimate management in mind. Features such as breathable, low-shear covers, moisture-wicking materials, and air cell technologies that promote airflow work together to regulate temperature and humidity at the skin interface. Many systems also incorporate Hygroflex™ pressure care foam, clinically shown to enhance heat dissipation and reduce shear. In select models, an Integrated Hyper-Stretch™ coverlet further enhances immersion and minimises surface tension to protect skin integrity.
By effectively managing microclimate, Studio Care systems help support the body’s natural defences, promote healthier skin, and reduce the risk of pressure injury development in vulnerable individuals.
Why Configurability Matters in a Therapy Surface
Adapting with the client. Not replacing the system.
No two patients are the same—and their support needs often change over time. Clinical conditions evolve, mobility levels fluctuate, and comfort preferences vary. That’s why a “set-and-forget” mattress system can quickly become unsuitable, leading to unnecessary equipment changes and added cost or disruption.
The AdaptAir™ mattress system is designed for flexibility. Its interchangeable configurations—ranging from Full Foam to Full Air—allow the surface to be adjusted as pressure care, comfort, or mobility needs change. With components like detachable air cells, foam support inserts, and selectable cycling modes, clinicians can make targeted modifications without needing to swap out the entire mattress system.
This modular, adaptable design supports long-term care planning, improves continuity for the patient, and enables therapists to deliver targeted, responsive pressure care as needs evolve. With AdaptAir™, the mattress system adapts—so the patient doesn’t have to.
